Overview
S K Som has done his B Sc. Tech from the University of Calcutta in 1983 and a postgraduate in Textile Engineering from M S University of Baroda. He is a Textile Industry veteran having experience in the Manufacturing and Servicing area of Worsted, Synthetic, Cotton, and Linen. He has more than three decades of professional experience in innovative product development and research work. Worked with India’s most trusted and leading brand Raymond Limited for more than 36 years. He was Director – Quality Assurance & Technical Services at Raymond Limited. He has vast knowledge in manufacturing fabrics with all types of Fine Animal Hair fibers, Wool, Polyester, Viscose, Cotton, and Linen fibers. He was a core team member in the early nineties for the development of fine All Wool and its blended Suiting fabrics with PIACENZA Italy and MARZOTTO Italy, Went to Cornell University, the USA for technical collaboration of the latest innovation in Textiles.
My Skills
Went to Japan to attend the 25th ISC Congress as a speaker in 2018. A trip to Romania to attend 26th ISC Congers as a speaker in the year 2022. Has published many papers and presented papers at various international conferences. As a professional, he has widely traveled to many countries His work involves in finest ever All Wool shirting fabrics made from 2/190 Nm Yarn spun from 12.5 Micron Wool in both fabric dyed and Top Dyed quality. Has made finest ever Shirting fabric in Cashmere/ Silk, Wool/Silk with 70 GSM.
